This redesign of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay is totally handmade. The story revolves around two young men who are tasked to create a new superhero to compete with Superman who was created shortly before and is dominating the newsstands. "The Escapist" has magical powers of deception and can escape from the clutches of Hitler himself. Joe Kavalier is also trying to use his real world super powers to free his family from real-life Hitler, and so their art becomes the key to escaping. Hence, the key carved into the tip of a pencil, symbolizing what art can do for these two young men.
